Regular cleaning is essential for maintaining a safe and functional walk-in tub. Maintaining a walk-in tub is key to keeping it in good condition for many years to come so you can enjoy it every time, knowing that it provides you with maximum safety.
Here are a few ways to keep your walk-in tub in good shape.
After Your Bath
We recommend taking the retractable showering wand and cleaning out the entire tub with warm water after each bath or sit-down shower in your tub. This will remove limescale, soap scum and other forms of buildup while it is still fresh, saving you from hard work during a later time. Warming the water will aid in melting the residue from the tub’s surfaces and sending it down the drain where it belongs.
Weekly Maintenance
Once a week, give your walk-in tub a thorough cleaning. When scrubbing your tub, avoid using wire brushes or steel wool since they can cause damage to the surface. All the surfaces and fittings in your tub should be thoroughly cleaned with a mild, non-abrasive and acrylic-friendly cleanser. After rinsing daily or after each use, the process of weekly cleaning should be easier.
Deep Cleaning
You should clean your tub more thoroughly once a month. This means removing and cleaning all parts, fixtures and surfaces. Fill your tub with warm water up to the first jet, and then turn off the water and add a cup of bleach. Turn on the jets, and let them run for 15 minutes with the bleach in the water. Turn off the jets, and drain the tub after 15 minutes. After draining the tub, repeat the process without the bleach, allowing the clear warm water to remove the filth, grime and bleach.
Other Things to Remember
- Avoid using harsh scrubbers, such as metal scrapers, wire brushes, water barrier wallboard or other abrasive tools. Your tub’s surface can be scratched and dulled by these objects.
- You should only use mild household cleaners, such as dishwashing soap, when cleaning your tub.
- An automotive cleaning compound can be used to restore light scratches and dull areas.
- Avoid running the jets when the tub is dry.
